Can anyone tell me how I'd go about finding out if my car should be included in this recall please?
I have an 04 Accord that I bought used, so Honda Ireland won't have my name on any lists anywhere!

Honda are quite good at chasing up recalls. They get your details from the Tax office I think. I've had 2 recalls on my CR-V in the 18 Months I've had it. The last one they wrote twice to me and when I hadn't attended the garage they sent a registered letter to my address.

If you think there is a recall on your year/model then google it and call your nearest Honda dealership, they will know if your car has been fixed or needs to be.

That's been my experience anyway !

What recall is this? Unlikely they would recall a 10yr old car.

    Indeed they would !! My CR-V is a 02 !!

Airbags from the same manufacturer as Nissan and Toyota.

If you are the registered owner and if your Accord is due the recall, you will be notified by Honda. They will source your details from the Department of Transport.

I sent a message through the Contact Us section on the website. A very helpful chap called Fearghal told me that my '05 Stream was not affected.

Not so unlikely if the failure can cause serious consequences.

Companies as big as car manufacturers have to protect themselves from being sued as a result of this kind of failure - especially when they were aware of the problem.

Are they replacing the airbags, sensors, or is it just a general check on the airbags btw?

Replacing the airbag inflator only, rather than the complete airbag.

IF it's a safety recall they will be able to get the details of all affected vehicles and their current owner's details from the National Vehicle and Driver File but feel free to contact Honda yourself if you wish.

I sent an email to Honda Ireland the night I started this thread and the very next morning I got a call from them telling me that my car is more than likely not due to be recalled.
They also said that any owners who's cars are effected will be contacted in writing in about six weeks or so.
