    Hi all,

I have a blog on my website, which I was going to use for professional purposed, but have not really posted much on it.

I have an external bog standard wordpress blog, which I have used more, and have split up the categories on it even.

Is there a way to plug this blog into the existing website to basically replace what is there, so if someone went to www.abc.com/blog, they would see the posts from the same external blog www.myname.wordpress.com?

As both are on WordPress there is more than one way to achieve what you want.
Have a second install of Wordpress in folder called blog
    use WordPress multisite
export part of database from blog and import into website

I will try. I'll probably need a few dummy runs at it though....

It is quite easy. You don't need to export the database, just the xml file. You can find an interesting tutorial about it here: http:// en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/

Read starting from: "The content transfer process is similar to that described above (between WordPress.com blogs):"

You can use multisite on your existing site, or you can just install a new WordPress instance.
Using multisite you don't need to install a new instance of WordPress. Still, most users find it easier to run two instances of WordPress (you will have to update the theme, all the plugins twice, but still easier than multisite if you're not use to it).

Of course, on both situations (multisite or new instance) you can have the blog as yourwebsite.ie/blog or by creating a subdomain like blog.yourdomain.ie

Now, there is a small issue with SEO. You will loose SEO by moving your content from wordpress.com to a wordpress.org installation. If you leave your content on the wordpress.com, the content transferred to yoursite.ie will not be indexed by Google because of the duplicate content.
You can just delete the content from wordpress.com and hope that google will index, in time, the content on your new blog. Or, the best option would be to redirect your wordpress.com to yoursite.ie/blog
    More details here:
    http:// en.support.wordpress.com/site-redirect/
    http:// en.support.wordpress.com/?s=redirect

    Hope this helps.

I'll give it a crack! Or else pay someone to do it! :/

Shouldn't be that difficult. Anyway, you will find a lot of people around here to help you if you pay. I saw on another post - someone was creating WordPress websites in 5 minutes :/ , so lots of professionals around here. (a bit sarcastic, but there are also real professionals here) Good luck with your website!
