I have an interview for a job on friday but am going away in 4 weeks time for a holiday and am not quite sure how to handle the situation ? I feel that it will be the only thing that will prevent me from been offered the position if my interview was to be successful.

I've been in this situation and when I was asked when I could start, I mentioned that I had a holiday booked that would coincide with the end of my notice period so I wouldn't be able to start until after that. It was only a week extra before I could start and they were happy enough with that.

I would presume they'd understand that you had a holiday booked in the middle of the summer and would work around it.

I agree with Draco. You are having an interview in the middle of Summer so it's highly likely that you would have a holiday planned. The interview panel will understand this. Anyway, the other interviewees will have the same concerns so no matter who gets the job, the employer will face the same issue anyway. Best of luck in the interview. Google 'star interview techniques'.

How long is your holiday for, and how long is your notice period?

Assuming it's 2 weeks holidays and 4 weeks notice period, then that means that if you were to resign now, it'd be 6 weeks before you can start. Is it really likely that they'll get through the hiring process so quickly?

10 day holiday and two weeks notice period from my current employer.

You have no choice but to be honest. If you hide it and tell them after you sign the contract, they'll think you're slimy.

As a hirer, if I liked you, I'd accept your holiday.
