It would still depend on the job.... and your level of experience & qualifications!

Starting off.... as a director, or the janitor?

From what I hear they pretty much have the pick of anybody they want. To get a role there you would need to be high up experience and ability.

Why do you want to work there?

I had some friends want to work in the games industry, once they got a job there they suddenly realised it was not fun and games. Unrealistic dead lines, unpaid overtimes, lousy pay and very boring work. If you want to work there figure out exactly what you are expecting and find out if that is realistic.

I suspect you may think it is somehow better than it actually is.

I have a friend who works for Facebook Dublin in recruitment. I've just finished a business grad dip and I asked her would I ever get near a job in FB. "No" was her curt response. :D

Basically, on the business side at least, you need an MBA, and one from a good university at that, to get anywhere near FB.

My friend got a 2.2 in Business Studies specialising in HR from a college that wasn't UCD or TCD, so that mustn't stretch to HR in Facebook. :P

You seem like you might speak another language though, OP, maybe try using that?

Try looking at www.glassdoor.ie for a better idea of interviews and what it's like to work there. Ive heard mixed reviews about the place personally, pay isnt brilliant and a lot of long hours involved.

Having one or two extra languages is also extremely useful particularly for the User experience/customer service type jobs.

I know someone who works there in the Engineering department. They are well taken care of but the work is stressful. As above deadlines are fairly strict and often he'd have to stay back till 8 or so to get his day's work done. You could easily average a 9-7 work week.

FB, Google (where I did 3 months), and all of these companies are fantastic to work for. You will be taken care of but there is a caveat; you will be expected to make the job a big part of your life, and this goes double if you want to work in the US. Amazon seems to be one of the exceptions but I don't know anyone working there so can't comment with authority.
