Something which i have a sort of love hate relationship with is hdr, but i'm going to select this as the challenge and see what we come up with.

    The rules:
-Only photos taken with this task in mind qualify, therefore, photos must be taken after 4pm on June 23th - No old photos to be submitted.

-The closing time/date for this challenge is 8pm on wednesday 9th july
-ONE photo per post - but submit as many posts as you like.

-The next challenge is to be chosen by the person who has the most thanks after their post at the closing date/time.

    Best of Luck.

    Great choice puddles.

I truly haven't a clue about hdr, but I will enjoy learning:)

BTW, do we get immunity from the HDR haters in the general thread? it can be a touchy subject at times:D

I only have lightroom and I don't see an option for HDR.

Is there any free hdr downloads available even on a trial basis?

Check out Trey Ratcliffe ... Good info on HDR and good creative use of it IMHO. His technique is to take the usual three AEB shots. He then combines the three in photomatix pro (not sure if you can get a trial version of this) and selects/edits one of the processed shots. He then goes back to Lightroom and takes the middle AEB shot and uses only Lightroom to process it. His third stage is to take the processed PMPro shot and the Lightroom shot and send them to photoshop as layers. He then works on these to create the final HDR shot. Sounds more complicated than it is. He has an excellent series of tutorials on it.

I hope this is Ok- it’s my first attempt at HDR.

I have downloaded a trial version of Photomatix.

I took a number of bracketed shots of the Grand Canal from Mount St Bridge today at lunchtime ( with the camera on the wall to steady) and fed them into Photomatix.

It gave me the option of ‘painterly’ and that is what I choose.

Will whack one up over the next few days. Photomatrix Pro really does let you do it tastefully I believe.

I'm guessing people confuse the HDR "effect" with its purpose to extend dynamic range, judging from some of the shots I've seen as well.
