What to expect on day of collection?

I'm collecting this week from a main dealer in Dublin rather than as expected by importing from the UK. They are including full years parts & labor warranty, next service free, 30 day exchange etc. What else might be reasonable to expect like, a tank of fuel, floor mats?

Anything you get on collection should be agreed in advance. There is a cost associated with mats/tank of fuel that would need to be taken into account when making the deal.

Mos dealers will put €20 of fuel in and include some form of mats, but I would ask to be sure. Original tailored mats are usually the best fit and secured on the ground.

Thanks for the reply. I have no expectations of the dealer to offer anything over their existing commitment. I do expect more negotiation when they start to offer service plans and this kind of thing.

The paying extra for service deals (never happened me after a deal) would usually be done by now, but that would be separate on the agreement at this stage. I think most main dealers will have a standard handover allowance to cover the basics. Any new deal is whatever you can get it down to.

(Assuming it's a second hand car) Entirely depends on how much you are spending on the car, a dealer is more likely to throw in free mats and a larger quantity of fuel if you are paying a higher amount for a car. Taking my own for example, car cost around €11K, I got new mats (not fitted) and half a tank of diesel, along with a full valet, which should be done anyway. First year free service aswell

Just to finish this off, collected last Thursday. Offer of a free service was withdrawn due to the final price agreed. Wasn't sure how to handle this. There were mats in the car so that bit was fine. Absolutely no juice in it though, straight to the station on collection.

Then right back to the dealer with a warning light on the dash. Took an hour to sort out with a new part required but job was done. Noticed a windscreen chip right up high on the drivers side right hand top corner, this is very close to the edge. Can this be repaired or would I need the entire screen replaced? Is this worth mentioning to the dealer?

Loving the car otherwise, delighted with it and look forward to many years in it.

If you have windscreen cover on your insurance let them sort it out.

Never bought a car myself but picking up my first one tomorrow. What should I expect to get tomorrow? Cert of Ownership? Log Book?

A receipt and the cert will arrive in a couple of weeks. If it's a used car get the warranty in writing.

Thanks for that. It's a used car but buying through a main Volkswagen dealer so should be ok. Will the log book be sent away also?

Being a large dealership they should be able to do the change of ownership online, you will then receive the new vehicle registration cert (logbook) in the post within about 2 weeks.

Hmmmm. Pre existing damage is not covered by insurance.

I get what you're saying, personally if it had to be replaced if have no qualms on doing it through my insurance. May well have happened since the OP took delivery;)
