World Cup Extra on Radio Nova

Just wondering what anyone here thinks of World Cup Extra on Radio Nova. Being honest here, I have to say that yes, I'm involved with the show (on production).

The show is running nightly during the World Cup and features Con Murphy and Roddy Collins chatting with each other and with callers about football and the World Cup events of the day.

So far we've had some real interesting callers on air, and interviews with the likes of Vinny Jones and Eamonn Carr.

It's an interesting departure for Nova, doing talk, albeit that it's only an hour out of the schedule every day, and it's only due to run for a few weeks - I was just wondering what people think of it?

I've been a Nova convert since I've moved job just after Christmas and I'd have nothing but praise for all shows. Constantly great music and has presenters that aren't OOT.

I would often listen to Newstalk and TodayFM for my "talk radio" (Morning NT and Matt Cooper). These shows are all about the personalities and how credible and listenable you find them.

Have caught your show a few evenings now and find Collins and Con Murphy to be a fantastic duo. I think the phone-in parts of the show add to it so much. We as a nation are made for radio phone-in. The weekend sport is a perfect mix music and sport. Off the Ball hasn't been the same since the Second Captains boys left and your show is a worthy contender for my evening show listening.

Congrats to radio nova. The only decent music programs on the station were evening time and now thats destroyed.
I tune in tonight hoping to listen to some decent tunes only to hear this muck. As if there isn't enough world cup on the band as it is.
Aw well, nova's loss was 8 Radios gain. A nice hour of eclectic music.

Where is all this other world cup coverage at 11pm at night?

Sure there's 2 stations covering it in the UK but there's a big lack of it on Irish radio. Not saying it's ideal on Radio Nova but it's better than not being on the radio at all

i didnt say it was on at 11 at night. Its on tv at all hours, inc as i type.
Nova is a music station. I tune to it to get away from the world cup and other crap.
I couldnt give 2 ****s if anybody thinks that there is not enough football on the radio. It doesnt belong on a music station.

    Always happens.

Talk radio stations try music programmes, Newstalk and Talksport anyone?

    Music radio tries talk/sport.
