Air brakes and suspension

    I guess im going to go a bit off topic here mods feel free to move if necessary

    anybody got any links to an air suspension/air bag setup on a truck, something Im researching at the min

    how the whole thing works really both brakes and suspension

    does the air hold the brakes off and a spring activate the brake or is that just something i misread somewhere?

    when you have air over hydraulic brakes is it the same setup or something else?

    Yea once the vehicle is above a certain weight (3.5 tons AFAIK) the brakes need to be normally closed and require air to release them.

    There's a variety of air suspension systems out there, are you looking at trucks or lighter vehicles? Many on motor homes might just be open loop and the driver can adjust for the load in the vehicle using manual valves/gauges.

    After that there's some with mechanical levelling valves to allow air in/out of the air springs and maintain a constant ride height. Finally there's electronically controlled suspensions that will use height sensors and allow a variety of different heights to be set by the driver. These will use some sort of pneumatic valve manifold where each valve is controlled by an electrical solenoid.
