Welcome to The Relationship Issues Forum.

The site rules apply as does the general poster code of conduct.
    https://www.boards.ie/content/terms?site=desktop

This forum is for relationship issues. All personal issues should be posted in the Personal Issues forum.

If a matter or a subject does not impact you personally then please do not post in Relationship Issues. There are many other forums on Boards.ie where your discussion would be more suited.

    No one true way.
No one on this forum has the right to tell someone they are not in a relationship due that relationship not being the same as their own, in terms of agreements between adults
of what ever number or what ever gender.

    GUIDELINES
REPLYING TO THREADS IN THE RELATIONSHIP ISSUES FORUM

Relationship Issues is an advice forum. We ask that posters offer advice to the OP when posting.

You only need to start one thread - starting numerous threads over a short period of time will be considered attention whoring and they will be closed.

Reply to threads in a civil and well phrased manner, remember being a Relationship Issues board the contents of some threads may be very close to people's hearts. Any advice given should be mature, constructive and non-abusive. Opinions are welcome. Ridicule and nastiness are not.

Txtspk is not permitted on this forum, posts which are too hard to read will be deleted.

Think carefully about what you're posting, remember it is the interweb after all and you may not be as anonymous as you think.

There is zero tolerance for muppetry here. Trolling, point scoring, bullying, humiliating or belittling another poster will result in cards up to and including a permaban from the forum.

Do not post links to/embed videos, they are banned in this forum.

Polls are not allowed as they are useless to a personal issue.

Do NOT link to / start threads on PI/RI threads on other forums. This will result in a ban from PI/RI

Off topic posts and unhelpful posts will not be tolerated.

Discussion of Pick-Up-Artists (PUA) methods and techniques are not allowed on this forum. Any links to, or naming of individuals claiming to improve a guy's chances with women (Pick-Up Artists), whether free or requiring payment, will be removed immediately as it is impossible for the mods to verify how legitimate these people are. Persistent breaches of this rule will result in an infraction and/or ban.

Suggesting violence or advising a poster to break the law as a problem solver will result in an instant forum ban.

Dragging up old threads is a no no and we will close them.

Do not ask for updates/to be kept updated - this prevents threads turning into blogs or soap operas for others amusement and avoids putting pressure on the original poster to return to the thread.

It is not the done thing on the PI or RI forums to ask an OP to pm/msn/skype/email you. This is done for two reasons:
    1. To protect those posting on the internet when they may be in a vulnerable state from trolls and other possible unsavory people. Threads on PI/RI are monitored by the mods so that bad and dangerous advice is not permitted.

    2. To protect posters from trolls and unsavory people who pose as a person needing help and advice. This stops posters from ending up locked in to a pm exchange with someone they can not help.

Any posts requesting/offering a PM will be summarily deleted and action taken against the poster. Repeat offenders will be notified to the Admin team, with a possible siteban as punishment.

Should you receive a PM requesting or offering more information/services/private help, please report the post to the Personal Issues Moderator Team (listed at the top of this post).

Does your thread belong here or will you get a more suitable reply in another forum?

Other forums you may find better suited:

    Work Problems
    State Benefits
    Accommodation and Property.

    Adoption
Parenting (subforums: Teens and Pre-Teens, Newborn & Toddlers, Pregnant, Trying to Conceive)

    Dental Issues
    Long Term Illness
    Accessibility & Mobility & Disability

    The Gentleman's Club
    The Ladies' Lounge
    Sex & Sexuality

    Fitness
    Nutrition & Diet

    Posting Unregistered

The option was always available to post unregistered in PI/RI. This is currently not available. As a work around a poster is allowed set up 1 'throw away' account to seek advice on a issue that they might not like linked to their regular username.

Abuse of this feature, creating multiple accounts etc will result in a ban from the forum.

    The Moderators

Any problems with the moderators then feel free to PM us. If you are still unhappy then start a thread in The Held Desk
    https://www.boards.ie/categories/help-desk

If you wish to dispute an infraction or ban then please follow the steps outlined in The Dispute Resolution Forum
    https://www.boards.ie/categories/dispute-resolution

Questioning a mod action on thread in the Personal Issues forum is considered off topic and unhelpful posting and may result in a ban from the forum.

    Help by reporting posts

Reporting posts which break the rules of the forum means that the mods will see them sooner and take action on them. This is very helpful as the forum can be very busy at times and moderators can't always see every post.

At the moment The Reported Posts feature isn't working very well, so the Personal Issues moderators are happy to accept PMs from users highlighting problem posts.

If there is a general attitude from someone you've a problem with and it's not just a single post then PM/email a moderator with the details and we will look into it. If you have an issues with a post or a thread do not post "I think this is a troll" as it will be considered off topic posting. Report the post. It could be well that a thread that started out as an attempt to troll could well help people out there struggling with a similar issues and the thread maybe helpful to them now or if they search boards.

    Final reminder

    - Relationship Issues is an advice forum. Posters are required to offer advice or opinion to the OP in their replies.

    - Replies are expected to be mature, civil and well phrased. Remember you are speaking to a real person who has posted a problem that is impacting them.

    - Off topic and unhelpful behaviour will result in warnings up to and including forum bans. Ban lengths are accumulative. Posters have been permanently banned from the Personal Issues forum.

    - Generalisations and generic sweeping statements are not helpful to an OP and posters will be pulled up on it.

    - Most of all, if you have nothing relevant to add to the topic, please refrain from posting anything at all.

    - Not having read the rules of this forum is not an excuse.
