See link below - says it's Saorview ready, 1080p and 39" for this price seems like a very good deal.

    Delivery €5.99

Not great value when you compare it to this one 2 weeks ago, same tv

I'd actually forgotten about that - I commented on it and all! This still seems like a reasonable price given the other is expired unless anyone can see it on sale anywhere else?

Would be interested to know if anyone bought it before and how they got on either way.

The thread is from a month ago but they were available again 2 weeks ago, my brother in law got one. I'd keep an eye in it. It's a decent tv, it arrived broken but Tesco replaced it

Genuine question, but why would anyone buy a large TV today, which they are going to use for the next 7-8 years, that isn't Wi-Fi enabled?

No Netflix, YouTube etc without connecting to another device that is enabled.

Because a HTPC or Smart media player is miles better than the limited functions a Smart Tv offers. You are also depending on the Tv manufacturer to keep the apps for Netflix, YT etc updated and working when they update their systems (which they do). Also, if you want to futureproof forget wireless and run a cable, even the best Wi-Fi is just about capable of HD, introduce a few more devices in your home, smartphones, tablets etc talking to the router at the same time and it will no longer be capable

So far smart TV's have proven to be very insecure and vulnerable , don't use them for anything that requires a login - no email , no facebook , defo no credit card.

Some have been found phoning home the contents of any USB key put into them.

Who knows what features you'll need in the next 7-8 years ?
    Maybe it'll all be HTML5 or MPEG10

You can't watch UK Freeview HD on 7-8 year old TV unless you buy an external box.

You can turn a dumb monitor into a Smart TV for as little as €14
http://www.buyincoins.com/item/37931.html - another 8% off this week if you use coupon BICALL8

Instead of a fancy remote control you can get a cheap and cheerful wireless mouse for €3

YMMV but IMHO "smart" isn't an option you should be forking out big money. Especially if you are one of the 85% that already pay SKY / UPC for an external box, and can use an external display from a laptop/phone for the rest
