This afternoon we had World Cup highlights on RTE2HD on satellite (geo-blocked in NI) and Irish Open Golf on Saorview. Has this splitting of schedules ever happened before?

Absolutely sure because golf was not geo blocked on satellite nor even on NI mini -mux.

So what you're saying is you're not sure ;)

A couple of points - firstly, it is not possible to geo-block a Saorsat signal so any geo-blocking that occured was only on the Sky platform :)

Secondly, the golf was on yesterday, just as it is today, until 4.40pm on satellite (as in via both the Sky and Saorsat platforms).

We didn't, it looks like the golf ran over and went into the epg slot of the highlights which are blocked. I.e the sky epg wasn't adjusted. So the end of the golf got blocked.

    The schedules weren't split.

Again, just like today, the golf was scheduled to run until 4.40pm.

The highlights programme was on before the golf yesterday.

World Cup highlights on RTE2HD were geo-blocked on Sky here in NI on Saturday afternoon as are all World Cup programmes on RTE2HD - Definitely sure as I saw this with mine own eyes. Golf was being shown on RTE2 on both Saorview and NI mini-mux at the very same time. I'm only reporting what I saw.

Golf didn't overrun as it was 'World Cup highlights' not live world cup that was on the Sky epg for RTE2 and it was a lot earlier than 4.40pm. BTW the golf was not blocked when it was being shown on RTE2HD via Sky here in NI.

World Cup highlights on RTE2HD were geo-blocked on Sky here in NI on Saturday afternoon as are all World Cup programmes on RTE2HD - Definitely sure as I saw this with mine own eyes. Now you're admitting that you're basing your whole "split schedule" premise on messages you seen through your Sky receiver and not on any actual programming

As I've said you can't be "definitely sure" of anything except the messages your box gave you. ;)

I've said it already a couple of times, here we go again: the world cup highlights programme was on before the golf, which ran until 4.40pm. This schedule was mirrored on both Saturday and Sunday and ran across all platforms.

That is something I actually seen with my own eyes and I'm definitely sure of that :D

For the record I pull my EPG on satellite from different sources, it appears my sources are correct and on Sky it was wrong or was slow to update

Finally, why would they pull a programme running on one platform to show a different one on another platform for which they would have to block for certain sections of their audience?
Indeed, ask yourself why they would drop live sport to show a highlights programming repeated from earlier in the day on one platform but not the other?

I've included a Digiguide schedule (as the word of somebody who was actually watching the channel on Saturday appears not to be good enough :p )

Besides any of these arguments, I don't think RTE have the infrastructure to allow for separate programme streams on different platforms. :)

They did tinker with regional variations for Nationwide in the past I think.

I can see your point but can you tell me why my Sky box did not show me the golf on RTE2 HD on Saturday afternoon?

Because the channel was geo-blocked at that time, but you know that already

BTW I'm not making any point; I am advising you that golf was on until 4.40pm on RTE2 on Saturday ;)

Surely if RTÉ TWO had rights issues it could switch to RTÉjr or RTÉ ONE +1 or RTÉ NEWS NOW?

The thread went on quite a different tangent at this point, rather than continue the discussion under a misleading title I've moved the posts to a new thread:
