    Hi
I have a cobra alarm that comes on with the central locking
I don't need the alarm much
Is there a way to turn it off when I don't need it so just the central locking operates with remote keyfob
I'd say the alarm is 8-10 years old
    Thanks

Not familiar with Cobra, I know of them though.

A lot of manufactures supply a key with the alarm. The key usually goes into the back of the alarm itself in the engine bay and you turn to deactivate.
If you haven't got the key and you want the alarm deactivated... That's a different story.

There is ways of bypassing alarms but it can get very messy, for a reason, clearly.

There's a key and you touch it off a metal thing in the car
Its to turn off the alarm in emergency only afaik

I must check it but I don't think it will disable alarm

Usually there's a key to insert in the main module to turn it off. I would advise binning it, they give wicked trouble in old age, I've had to remove 2 Cobra alarms from vehicles which were causing indicator issues when driving

    Ok
I don't have a actual key just a little steel tipped thing
You touch it off something inside the car and it turns on/off the alarm
    I just checked it

So if I don't have a key presumably I would need an auto electricin?

It depends on what you want to do with the alarm; to disable it temporary or permanently? If you don't intend on using it again personally I'd remove it

    Ok thanks
    How would I remove it?

    And I need a key(which I don't have) to disable it?

My preference would be to disable it for now with a key

By removing it that involves removing the unit and the loom that splices into the car.

You might be able to get a replacement key, find the model of the alarm and ask round. The fobs can be replaced

    Ok thanks
    The key?
It looks like a regular key that turns a lock yes?

Yep it's usually a small key like for a padlock, make sure you have that option first :)

I didn't get any key like that when I bought the car second hand

I'll just stick with manually doing the central locking if I don't get a key
Its not bothering me that much
