Ebay item not as described, how to ensure seller will pay return postage?

    Long story short - bought an item off ebay (Irish business seller), item is not as described.

    Contacted seller through Paypal dispute, seller agreed to refund upon returning item, although did not confirm to agree to pay return postage.

    I know buer pays return if it's a cool-off, and seller pays if item's faulty or not as described.

    Item's quite heavy (9 kg), so postage through ParcelMotel facility would cost me 10.50.

    Now, what would be my options to enforce seller to pay?

    Both ebay and paypal help pages are not really helpful in that matter.

    You cant force anybody to do anything!

    contact ebay, they have instant chat help service, they will help you out.
    if the seller is a business seller they may well refund postage, i always get postage back, the threat of bad feedback is a good bargaining tool.
    one seller didnt refund my postage so i left him bad feedback, they sent my postage and ten sterling as a donation to my paypal account if i revised my feedback, sellers get reduced ebay fees from having five stars

    As far as i know you will have to pay for the return post.

    Maybe ebay did, but i doubt it was the seller.

    I have also had sellers paying return postage as I stated above in a previous post, if the item is not as described the seller is at fault not the buyer

    Buyer returns at their own expense. That's the rule on ebay.

    If you bought from a UK registered business seller at a fixed price then the seller should pay for the return postage according to distance selling regs.

    However this is not enforceable via ebay and you would have to pursue it outside of ebay. Try contacting their local trading standards office.

    Items won at auction, or purchased from private or overseas sellers have no such laws regarding return postage cost.
