Garmin HRM Drift (Edge 800 / Forerunner 310XT)

Just wondering if anyone's experienced HRM drift wt an Edge 800 or 310xt?

I have the Garmin soft strap HRM and take the usual precautions before training / racing (wetting the electrode parts etc) but it keeps drifting after about 1hr / 1.30hrs in and spiking which is doing my head in as it's ruining training / racing stats.

I've heard swapping to a Polar Hard shell strap can do the trick but just wondering if anyone's had the same issues and if the Polar swap worked?

    Cheers!

Yes. With garmin and polar. The secret is to leave the strap in a bowl of water overnight with a little bit of washing up liquid in every few weeks. You need to then leave for a few hours in just water. The key is to get the salt out as it messes with the conductivity and the sensor effectively misreads the electric current when your new sweat dissolves the old sweat in the strap.

Cheers Ashleey, tried the bowl overnight trick and seems to have stopped jumping so much, nice work:)
