Basic BBQ Kebab help please!

So for tomorrow night, we're having a BBQ with friends and I want to try kebabs - I've never done them before (definitely a burger and sausage house with the kids!).

So I have mushroom, onion, chicken and mixed peppers.

However, I assume I should marinade the above prior to putting them on a kebab?? does anyone have any quick and simple ideas I can use?

Should I lop everything into a large sandwich bag and shake in the marinade and then construct the kebabs?? I assume that because the pieces of chicken are going to be quite small, there's no need to pre-cook them. Also, thoughts on onion on a kebab - does it just turn to mush?

    TIA

You have most of the ingredients of my style of bbq kebab already. What I usually do is marinade some chicken and pork steak slices in a mix of honey and soya sauce for a few hours. I then lob that onto kebab sticks with widely-sliced onion, peppers and mushrooms and cook.
