Fitted a gate spring similar to above. May not be identical but seems same. I cannot figure how to fit the tension rods or pipes or whatever they are called

See the little rod he shows at 5.38? in mine it is thicker at one side. i do not see what keeps it in. The holes only allow the thin side to go in

Mine looks like the two pegs here. See how they are wider at one side. what keeps them in?

It is fitted fully but has no effect on closing the gate so i need to adjust the tension ...i think?

So, did you get the spring, the tensioning bar, and the small retaining pin also ? 3 pieces basically ?

yes and 8 screws Not sure why 8 as on takes 4. Usually there is a spare one but not a spare set. it is fitted.

I understand from searching the pin is put in the bottom and the bar turns the top. But the bottom one is not catching in the mounting post, seems to short. My searches says there should be a top and bottom to the spring and top should be at right side and in higher position. But it is not marked.

The only difference I can find is one side has a little point about one mm high if you run finger over you can feel it. Is that the top mark? Other side is flat. see pic next post, cannot upload here
