    No ,haven't done anything .
I wouldn't be too clued in as all was done for me,was hoping there might have been a simple cause/explanation .Is there much into a reflash?

Can be messy and you might loose settings etc. Have you unplugged for few minutes and tried booting up?

Purple flash is the bootloader. It has become corrupt. This can happen from something as attempting an online update of the software.

You will have to download the latest image - Vix. Unzip to the root of pen/usb drive. Place Pen/usb drive in front usb port. Turn box on at back switch. Box should prompt on screen that a new image is detected and press the blue power button. It will flash the image let it reboot.

I am only getting around to fixing this problem now.
I want to use BH and I have unzip the latest image to a usb drive but when I place usb drive in the front port and turn box on at back nothing happens.
    Any ideas?

•Download the VU+ Solo2 image you want to install on your PC.
    •Unzip to a USB stick
•Turn off the VU+ Solo2 on the back
•Insert the USB stick on the front of the Solo2
    •Turn on the VU+ Solo2
•Follow the messages on the front display of the Solo2.
•Touch sensitive standby button to update
•The Solo2 installs the image from the usb and reboots.
hi the above is just a copy and paste from an online forum but its the only method I know of,i use vix and it the same process, just keep an eye on the display when its booting up,you should get a prompt to flash the box, just touch the touchdisplay and it should install the new image,ps if you leave the usb stick in place you will get the same prompt again to flash the image, just ignore it and the box will boot up and the receiver is ready to configure ie sat lists and plugins.gluck

did you press the power button when prompted and if so did the display say dumping or erasing.if not I would check that you have the right image on the usb stick, have a look at this vid from youtube, its in german but watch it from the second minute, did your solo2 give the same prompt,ie press power button and did it start and finish the process of the flash as in the video, double check that you have the solo2 image and not one for a different vu+,failing that if you put in your location you might get someone local to you to give it a bash for you.good luck with it

The problem is the front panel of the box is blank all that lights up is the power button.
Nothing shows up on the display.

Are you sure its not a clone? There has been "timebombs" placed in images to kill cloned solos. If it is original, have you or somebody attemped to flash an image before the fault. If someone attempts to flash an incorrect image ie duo onto solo, your box will be bricked.

I've jtaged back to life a solo when the previous owner flashed on a duo image. The box failed to boot or respond to normal flashing after the incorrect firmware was flashed.

jtag is not easy but will bring a firmware bricked box back to life.

check this to establish if its a clone or not, maybe too late now but worth knowing. not sure if you need to join.

Sound,s like you got a clone solo 2 try looking in the top vent or open the box if you see a flash chip with lonrisun on it then it,s 100% a clone and will need will need flash chip replacement ,these can be got for 5 euro chinesse selling site,s or ebay and a good pc repair and tv repair shop can repair this , and have you tryed contacting the seller see what he say,s !! , and there,s 3 types of solo 2 clones doing the round,s sunray / lonrisun , dragonworth so you need to be careful , go to youtube type in solo 2 not booting and solo 2 flash chip replacement should give you some idea what you have .
