    Lads
My trusty Yaris is just too small now and I am looking for sommit a bit different. I have the chance at a 02 Saab 95 2.2 TiD Estate. 96000 miles with FSH She is a Vector as well with full leather and every toy you could ever want. I got a drive last night and she is superb. Ive never drove any thing like it before.
    .
She has a UK reg but I dont mind paying the VRT - Tax is a real pain but the car is cheap so I can nearly suffer that.

I cant find anybody about that has any useful experience of these cars so Im looking for yours

Am I taking a risk..? Is there any known faults ?

Please tell me - I do about 6k kms a year

    Cheers In Advance

I had the 2.2TiD Saab 9-3 a few years ago. Very good engine if a little "agricultural" they don't give much bother and parts are readily available if you do need to replaces parts. They're a GM unit and so share many Opel/Vauxhall parts both in the engine and drive train dept. however with you only doing 6k a year you will find they're considerably harder to run than your yaris. I'm guessing you do mainly town/urban driving in which case you'll be looking at low to mid 30's MPG figures. They'll do high 30's on mixed and mid 40's on long runs. You would be better buying a petrol version which are generally cheaper over here and you'll only have 2.0 litre tax as opposed to 2.2. The petrol model will also be much quieter and smoother than the diesel 2.2

Hoping this question can benefit the OP rarther than derail the thread, but how does VRT work when a private individual has imported a car but it's still on UK plates and then they sell it on? Are there any issues or can the new owner just rock up with the V5C and the car and say "VRT me please"? Do they ask for sales receipts, ferry tickets etc to prove date the car landed in the State? Are you risking fines for late payment?
