BMW 2002 e46 code reset help

    Hi all,

I had the airbag light on in the car (2002 318ci) and just to eliminate the possibility I got the seat bypass sensor online. Unfortunately the light remains on. Questions:

    1. Do I still need to reset the light/error code after installing that bypass?
    2. Does anyone know of a place in South Dublin that can do this? Or if anyone is in or around the Sandyford area that would be willing to do it for me? Be a 6 pack of beers in it for you
    3. Failing that, what tool can I get or where can I go to have the codes read for other errors?

    Thanks!

Have a read of this thread it's about the same issue you have.

Thanks for that but it doesn't really give me a solution other than I need to try to reset the light and have the error codes read. I need to find someone to do that or else get the correct tool for the job and do it myself, but I don't know what to get.

Try unplugging the bypass and plugging it back in again, except with the key in the ignition (car fully switched off, pos 0).

If that doesn't do it, then yes, you need the light turned off using diagnostics.
