hi all! its been 3 years since I have moved here and it took me a really long time to find a good person that I like to cut my hair. I have tried a lot - high to low end! I found someone, price range is a bit high for my liking but I am ok to stick with them. I just wanted to ask, if the owner of the salon charges €80 for the cut (which is find is really pricey as compared to where I used to live) do I need to tip?

This has come up in a few threads before, if I remember correctly, so a quick search will probably give you a few

In answer to your question: do you need to tip? No. However, if you're happy with the hair cut and the hair dresser is nice and good, then giving a few euro is no problem. However, that depends on your own circumstances and whether you feel it's merited and whether or not you can afford to do so.

I certainly wouldn't tip if they were getting 80 euro repeat custom from me

Have to agree with this. €80 is about €30 too expensive so I wouldn't be tipping!

No I wouldnt ...I never tip the owner of hairdresiing/beauty salon...I do tip if its one of the girls working in the salon..80e is pretty expensive but I know that when you find someone that youre happy with it you are inclined to stick with them.:)

€80 is really expensive for just a cut.

I get full head of highlights, wash, blow-dry, trim and layers put in and it only costs me €90. I tip the person who's spent the most time on my hair; usually the girl doing the highlights. I would tip €5.

Where do you get it done? That's a good price.

I never tip :( I never know who I'm supposed to tip, and I'm usually too shy to wander round the salon and find them. If there was a tip jar in salons I probably would.
