Lightest, best value tubs

Apart from non-warrantied Chinese "sh1t-what's-that-cracking/creaking-noise?!!" wheels, what are good options for light tubs.

Weight weenie being the primary requirement. I reckon a sub 1200g wheelset, in terms of rotational mass weight saving, must be an awesome riding and climbing experience.

Price of course is always a consideration :)

    E.g.

These are a very impressive 1170g for 800 blips

    Any others?

I have a set of the chinese ones, raced the gorey on them and they haven't killed me yet. They weigh in at about 1250 for the set. Some of the better known chinese brands seem to be ok. At least three people in my club are racing on them.

You specifically looking for tubs or just light weight?
I run Extralite HyperClinch, 1100g. The carbon tub version is 800g ish.

At the risk of pissing on your BBQ, my current commuting wheels are these 1275g clinchers:

    ..shod with 21mm Vittoria CXs.

I also use them for going up hills, though I'm particularly slow at the moment.

I can't say they've transformed by riding experience. They possibly feel like they have less inertia but that makes for less smooth progress if anything.

My 50mm carbon clinchers are <1400g and don't feel slower going up hills.

The thing with tubulars is that puncture resistance becomes a major factor as they're such a PITA to change, so you end up being drawn to heavier tyres. With a clincher you can find the lightest thing available and patch any punctures.

Both really, although in reality I have too many more pressing things in my life that 1000 euro could sort out.

But I would really really like to know what it is to ride and race on a comically light set of wheels specifically and tubs generally. :)

I'm driven by jealousy to check your claim.

    Website says 1190g.

I think I've been very lucky with punctures, I haven't had one in nearly 12 months. These wheels (which I'm in all probability not going to buy) would be race wheels only, where if you puncture you're out anyway. Stick out the thumb for a lift and then drive home

some of the chinese ones are warrantied (although I have no idea how successful a warranty claim would or would not be)
Tubs are nice to ride on.

    Yeah, that's what I hear.

Yer man in Kinetix products has loads of ex pro carbon tubs as well. Might be worth a trawl around his Aladdin's cave.

In fairness, it's standard weight weenie practice to round down.

That's the current version using the updated (strengthened) stans rims that added 50g to my ones.

Damn, you have the much-coveted weak-rimmed weightweenie version.

My Souls are like that. After I bought then they beefed them up. I try not to think about it during descents.

Surprising that you don't want random chinese wheels while both of the linked ones are without major brand behind them

Anyway, these FF, are not 1100, it's closer to 1200gr. If you can afford the Extralite hyperclimb then by all means get them. Close to the same price are the Reynolds RZR 46 if I am not mistaken which combines light with aero benefits.

Although, you could buy 4 pairs of these at the same price and still be a happy camper. If you are running campag you are welcome to borrow mine for a spin and see how they feel. But, if you are above 85kgs, all these wheels will feel like riding spaggeti spokes.
