    There's minimal advantage to us in having them operate here so I can't see Varadkar doing anything for them. They aren't going to operate longhaul from here; they aren't going to pull their shorthaul out of DUB and they aren't employing any numbers of people here for the Longhaul ops either. Planes will inevitable continue to be EI registered based on who actually owns them.

    At the same time the American airlines don't introduce new routes. They all have one route each.

    Is it not the case the the complete back office for the long haul operations will be stationed out in swords?

    That is true. However this office consists of less then 20 staff. Having the HQ here allows then to have an Irish AOC. Similar to how the vast majority of aircraft leasing companies are also based in Ireland,allows them to use EI reg.
