Contact lenses for combat sports

The past few year I've been wearing contact lenses for playing hurling. I've found them to be the perfect solution to my somewhat less than 20/20 vision but lately I've pondered on whether it would be okay to wear them for a combat sport such as boxing.
I am short sighted so I never really needed them for boxing but now that I introduced them into my lifestyle and wear them 90% of the time I feel somewhat uncomfortable even though I feel I am no more vulnerable than before. Also now that I know the advantages of lenses I feel like my opponent has a slight advantage if I don't wear them, which can be quite daunting even though I have a prettyyyy good fight record haha. Anyway if anyone has any experience with this could they please answer my question. Thanks
