Sldr MiniDriver?

I've never played with anyone using one or held one but I find myself interested in these in theory at least.
Just to say up front I'm not looking for some miracle pill in terms of off the tee, I'm very happy with my current driver off the tee but same as anyone it can leak a little both ways unfortunately and I still hit some stinkers.
But one of these in 12-13 degrees does seem like it might be of some benefit especially if it's easier to find the short grass.

I didn't play golf in the pre 460 cc era and I'd presume these are similar to the drivers of the early 90's?

If anyone has any insights I'd appreciate the feedback/chat.

I'd love to demo one of these on a tight course, both Rick Shiels and Mark Crossfield are using them in their video logs on youtube and seem very impressed with them.

I've played a round or two with an old 300cc titleist driver, my brothers first driver actually, and found it grand at the time. Not sure how I'd cope now though, I presume it would be something like an easy to hit 3 wood.

Always a bit skeptical about Taylormades newest releases.....

She'd never fit in the bag anyway (boom boom)

I seriously considered getting one for when i'm not confident with my normal 460cc.

But €250 it's quite pricey for an 'option/substitute' club.

I did a bit of research and picked up a Big Bertha Hawkeye 11 degree (late 90's model) from ebay which is essentially the same thing. 250cc clubhead, more loft.

It produces a nice fade off the tee and feels like I have more control but not as long as the 460cc.
I'm not a big hitter anyway and it's a nice option plus it saved me €200.

There was a PGA tour player in the 80's-early 90's called Bruce Lietzky(that spelling is awful pronounced "lit-ski") who faded almost every shot he played, but had a 3 wood that he used when he needed to draw or hook a tee shot. I love the idea of always lashing the drives down the left hard as you can and fading it back in every time but on many holes the draw is the preferred shot and tbh I struggle to fade the ball on a draw hole. It seems harder to fade it when it doesn't suit my eye, that and some of the worlds best struggle to work it both ways accurately on demand.
The thought had occurred to me that with a minidriver I'd use it one way and the driver the other.
