I think Tommy Evans holds the record for Belfast-Dublin..
He set it in 1995. His time was 4 :00:28.

Belfast - Dublin (M) 04:00:28 5-Nov-95 Tommy Evans Bandbridge CC

Indeed, a very impressive time. But I bet he cursed that 28 seconds!

Even more impressive, the ladies record, from 1953 no less!!

    Belfast - Dublin (W) 04:00:50 11-May-53 Miss I Woods / Clements Belfast CC

    Alas, it seems not:

    http://cyclingulster.com/?p=3327

    1953 – Belfast to Dublin 103miles in 4hrs 56mins.

    But still seriously motoring.

Are there defined start and end points??
Would live to attempt that Dublin Derry one

Edit: not to beat, but to see how many hrs I could come within it!!

I think, it's from main post office to main post office. Very open to correction.

Evans was a really classy rider and that time would be hard to beat but the level of equipment is far higher now and I think someone like Brian McCrystal would have a good chance.
Padraig Marry as well if he fancied the idea.

    Is there a defined route?

There are defined start and end points, don't ask me what they are though

Bit unfair if there are no intermediate or defined route points bar the start/finish as roads and routes have surely improved.

Routes change but end to end records have historically different routes (Malin to Mizen the most obvious).
Makes the venerable Ms Woods record, who I had the honour to see at the CI awards last years, all the more impressive.....
