i left my passat cc dsg in for a service and got a call from the volkswagen
main dealer to sat it needed ( dsg box oil change) at a cost of €270.

seems pricey and does it need it 72000 miles ?

How old is the car? Have you priced the same job from a reputable independent garage?

It does need it at that mileage. That isn't a bad price in fairness as the fluid is expensive. A lot of independents won't do it as the car needs to be hooked up to the computer for the change.

so if its a DSG, it should be serviced every 40k miles iirc.

oil (5-6 litres of DSG oil depending on the particular model) and filter, plus labour & tools needed.

its not a huge job (I've done my own a few times), but it should be done pretty much on time each time.

I have had it quoted to me from my local dealer at 199, so I would press them to match that (and if they dont, PM me and I will pass on details). also as a note, I am talking about a 2.0 TDI so it may differ if yours is a petrol engine (but not much I would imagine)

    cheers

    t.

George Dalton used to do it for €175 if you're near Portlaoise. And yes it needs to be done. To be honest you're a good 32,000 miles over due getting it done.

    Yes agree.

Read your service book. It should be changed every 40k miles. So you are well overdue.

€270 is a bit pricey. VW in Swords used to match VW Belfast price for me. €220 I think is what I paid the last time.
