    Hi,

Anyone know where/how these can be bought without purchasing a package of a tour company?

    Thanks

Do ye expect they'd actually have to put the ticket allocation as a lottery? What was demand like previously, like I'm sure it'd be impossible to get tickets for Ireland-France or the Italy game?

First time planning on heading over for a game or two.

    have you seen the pricing?

Aye. But might not ever get the chance to go to a World Cup game again and accommodation is sorted. Presume a lot of people will be the same.

There is Cat C and D for £85 and £50 respectively, but they'll likely be quite poor and limited in supply.

The prices are shocking. That'll put a lot of people off.

I blame Nigel Wray and Brendan Venter.

Haha, those prices are mad. Love how they slap extra depending on the teams playing. Our pool Ireland/France and Italy/France are most expensive, but France/Romania is in the second lowest tier at a third as expensive.

Edit: Actually, the more I look at it the more I'm pissed off. Every other team has at least one match in the lowest two tiers (Cat A 85 and 65 tickets) but all of ours are in the top two tiers (Cat A 250 and 175 tickets) Wtf like, I'd have expected parity with France maybe, but not to be the most expensive (and supposedly most desirable) in the group?

Edit2: Haha, even the All Blacks have better ticket prices. The only teams supporters that are being fscked harder are the English funnily enough.

Irish people are much more likely to travel in numbers (/already be in England) than basically anyone else.

I don't really have an issue with that. It's incredibly annoying but the basic realities of the situation. I just think they're being stupidly optimistic with the prices. Considering our games are all in very large stadiums I struggle to see some of them coming close to filling at those prices.

Dunno, the French always travel well especially for NH cups. Like I said I'd have expected parity with them at the most.

Anyway, just read apparently the NZRFU lost 40m on the 11 RWC so I guess England aren't keen to be holding that kind of loss on their balance sheet.

It's really hard to gauge how a country will do as the NZRFU may have lost 40m but that country was hopping for 4/5/6 weeks so the economy in generally (hostels, hotels, campervans, bars, tourist attractions, etc.) will have done very very well.

I did a sky dive in Wanaka and the parachutist was saying that usually that'd do 2 or 3 but during the Lions tour in 05 they were doing up to 13 a day! So i'm guessing that during the RWC they were off their feet (no pun intended!).

September/October is still the shoulder season in NZ, their just after coming out of Winter and barely getting into Spring, yet the hotels and hostels would have been doing great business.

England won't be affected as badly as they're a far bigger country and economy but they should still overall do well out of the tournament.

so there is, on first reading I'd thought they were child rates...

I did the exact same thing and thought that for several months. It's not as clear as it could be.

Are you sure about the 40 million loss?

The tournament makes a massive profit but New Zealand lost about 20 million euro on it.

Basically the host country pays the IRB for the privilege of hosting it and then tries to recoup the cash by selling tickets, while all the TV, sponsorship goes to the IRB.

NZ knew there'd be a shortfall and were prepared to spend that to get hundreds of millions of dollars of extra economic activity.

    No-brainer really.

tickets are currently on sale via English Rugby clubs until July when they then go to a general release

I have decided to target the Italy and France games and forgo the others

I really cannot justfy the cost to see us play Romania and Canada

As the lower categories seem to be unavailable, it will cost around £600 for two of us to go to 2 games!!

Even if you can't buy them in advance I'd recommend going over anyway if you can. There's a very good chance you'll be able to pick up match tickets over there at cost price (even if cost is mad expensive). We were able to get tickets for the second Lions test last year off English lads at cost price & we met a few people over there who'd had similar experiences getting tickets off other fans at cost price.
