my partner , currently shes working in as a waitress and is 30 years old she is very outgoing and social, she is non Irish. Before coming to Ireland she has doing dressmaking (which she was quite good at) Since in Ireland (10 yrs) she has always worked usually in the food areas but would like to get away from that, she has done a Air Sterartess couse, a 1 year Fetac in Interior Design. Recently she did a 2 month Visual Display course in Dublin. She is finding it hard to get a different job and feels she needs to do an additional course She was one year in Dunnes and got on very well, and they had her doing a little visual display, when she asked could she study the manager there said no it wasnt their policy, also the hours in our local dunnes were tiny come in for 3 hours and then go home when it was quiet,(btw we have 2 kids together also) to get into something different. Could someone advise what she could study that she could get a job out of it? I advised her to do some barber course but she dosnt want. She has no problem going to Dublin to study or work

Instead of asking us what course she should do, maybe ask her what she wants to do, and get back to us. Doing a course to get a job can be mind numbing, and no guarantee of a job. If she has a passion for something, and doing a course in it may help her on her path. You mention dress making; was it done in an EU or non-EU country, and has she any qualifications for it?

So really you're asking us what are the chances of a non-Irish person picking up a job using skills learned in a visual display course?

(Yeah, I know it shouldn't make a difference that she's non-national, but in some areas the lack of local contract is an issue.)
