In pearse it now seems that only half the platform displays are working. The white displays work but the red ones do not, and only display the time. Interestingly the time is not exactly the same on both either. Does anyone now if Irish rail are doing some sort of CIS upgrade at the moment?

I have never seen the times match, which means at least one set of displays is constantly wrong. I suppose if you miss your train cos it left early, IE can tell you you were looking at the wrong display!

the white and red displays are never on at the same time. Generally (over the last year) the red ones are on and the white ones just say "Welcome to Pearse" - I assumed the white displays were a new system on test, but how long it takes to test them I don't know.

the time on all the red displays matches, but the white displays don't match each other, or the red displays.

This was the case ten years ago too...
The displays on platforms in Connolly are also out of whack, timewise.

Last night the red displays times matched, but were otherwise blank. I think the time did match on the white ones too...

That's a bit ironic considering that standard time was originally introduced so that there was a consistent time over the whole railway network in GB. If Irish Rail can't synchronise time across two devices inside the one railway station with today's technology, we haven't made much progress in 150 years!

150 years ago the time on every clock would read the same down to the second and would be checked daily for differences. Things have gone backwards not forwards in time.

    Are you surprised?

    Are you surprised?

That someone responded to a post which began with 'It's ironic that.... '?

    Yes.

What's the point of rhetorical posts anyway?
