Put the insurance payments over 12 months and then cancel the policy after the first month ?

ive the exact same problem coming up, I was asking them if their insurance cover them abroad, if yes, they should bring a letter to show it the guards in the case of the case?

Their own Insurance probably won't cover them outside their own country.

Also US licences are treated as provisional's at best over her, with some companies not quoting at all.

The fact also that they are not resident in the country would almost definitely invalidate the insurance as well in the event of an accident - standard question about residency on proposals.

Also the car would need to be re registered in the name of the visitors - basically a change of ownership.

All in All - I'd suggest they rent a car to be 100% sure that if they are involved in an accident that they are legal.

UK licences ok then but the other stuff still applies - need to be resident in the country and car would need to be registered in their name.#

Only way round that would be for the registered owner (you in this case I assume) to take out a policy with either open driving or named drivers. This would solve the registered owner problem and also the residency situation.

Direct debit and cancel after a few weeks - might find if you have no bonus to use on this vehicle that a lot of companies will charge a fortune and they may not have direct debit options.

No I want to keep it simple. No sign up and cancel DD. Car is the aunties, but she has a new one.

I dont think you have an alternative; Im not sure anyone in this country offers short term insurance. When this topic comes up the only suggestion that is ever offered is to take out the policy and then cancel.
