    Hi,

I am located in Nordics, Finland. My background is in SW testing, 5 yrs manual testing with 6 months in automation -Selenium.

I want to relocate to Ireland, I dont need work permit etc. I have been applying for jobs through irishjobs.ie, but response is quite bleak.
So would like to know names of reputed/reliable consultancies in Ireland or if anyone is working in consultancies who can help me in finding a job.

I have a permanent job here so cant take a risk of leaving it and moving to Ireland without a job offer.

    Thanks in advance

IT recruitment agencies like cpl might be a good first step.

Having another 6 months of automated testing could be the minimum for a lot of jobs.

Are there any companies in Finland who have a irish base ?
A more difficult route would be to join them and ask is relocation possible.

    Thanks for info.
I dont know any Nordic companies with large presence in Ireland. Actually IT job situation in Finland is very bad, hardly any openings here. Thats the reason for moving.

Is Selenium comparable to other packages? If you were asked to talk about it e.g. compared to Load Runner, could you?

I suspect it's not being used much here, I work in general project management in IT and have never heard of it, Load Runner and another that escapes me off the top of my head are used most.

    Stheno,
I had taken basic training on Load Runner and QTP, Load runner is used for performance testing, but I havent worked on it.
Good to know what tools are in demand, I can try to learn them.
    Thanks for the inputs.

You could easily pick up a daily rate contract job in QA with your experience. The problem with any automated testing is different companies use different packages. It is more important to be talking about the language you program your tests in as you can use different packages but it depends on what language the development is done in.

I wouldn't bother with CPL they seemed to have dropped the ball on their contract and QA work.

Harvey Nash are good got me contracts in a couple of days.
Computer Futures always seem to have contracts on their books

SQS are a test consultancies who hire a lot of testers.

Not sure of all the tax details between the two countries but you may actually have a tax advantage if you set-up a company at home and use that in Ireland. You would need to look into it.

Contracting roughly pays double so you can do well doing it. Haven't been out of work in 7 years doing it so there is a steady stream of contracts.
