Hi all, am a high handicapper, 16 or so and am after joining a new golf club. I have a €200 set of Wilson clubs that I bought online from McGuirks about 7 years ago, so I need to upgrade. I had a quick look here for threads but couldnt find anything. Looking to spend maybe €600 max on a set of irons, driver, wood and hybrid. have a friend coming from states later in the year that can get me Taylor made Burner irons plus the 3 woods for about €500 but id rather get them here. Had a quick look on Mcguirks and halfpenny but nothing. Any help appreciated.

Research in Halpenny or McGuirks but buy online would be my advice, much better value to be had online if you're looking to buy new

€500 sounds reasonably expensive for the burner range at this stage I would have thought given tm have released multiple replacement sets for them by now.

Why not buy second hand clubs?

Bought from "the golf studio" in celbridge driving range. They've a big enough range of good second hand stuff, and you get to try them out in the range before you make any decision.

I bought a mint condition set of TM burners on Adverts.ie for €120 a couple of months ago if you keep your eyes open there are serious deals to be had on the second hand market.

    This.

There's huge value in second hand clubs. Unless you're getting your clubs custom fitted, I think you're money would be better spent on a good quality set of second hand clubs.

Take a look on ebay for full sets of used clubs. If they only deliver to UK, then use Parcel Motel to get them sent here, only €3.50.

Things like this set are always available. Look in "Completed items" to see what second hand sets are going for.

For oversized parcels, PM are now charging €7.

But it's still good value and you get a NI address which allows you bid on 'UK only' items with UK postage rates.

See if you can try a few irons from friends, parents or hang around a driving range and 'admire' somebodies clubs and get a swing of them in return*

*I swear I've never done this, but it seems like a good idea ;)
