Susi Grant Appeal Form/E-mail

I applied for the Susi grant when it was made available in May. I received a letter from them which stated that i was 12k over the limit for the grant so I was refused. However, my father resigned from his job back in October 2013. Susi thinks we still get 55k per year from his employment, when in effect since last October, it would add up to about 36k that wasn't earned in the past 8 or 9 months. Basically, we should be under the limit.

My question is what do i say in my email to appeal my decision? I want it to be perfect so I get accepted this time. I simply can't afford to go to college without the Susi Grant.
    Thank you

The reckonable income for the grant is calculated based on income from 1st January - 31st December of the previous year (1st Jan - 31st Dec 2013 in your case).
If your father was on 55k per year (over the limit for a maintenance grant), and assuming he left on 1st October, his income would then be €41,250.

If there are 4 or more children in your family you'll still be eligible for 100% maintenance, otherwise you'll be eligible for 50%. You'll also be eligible for 100% of the student contribution grant.

Either way, you should certainly appeal.

Yes but if the applicant claims a change in circumstances they can reasess it on 2014 income

OP make sure you notify them that there is a change of circumstances

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
