Anyone ever had the manifold replacement done on a saab 9- 5? Or had someone do it for a semi reasonable price? Was quoted 1500 including vat for parts and labour by a saab dealer. Really can't justify it. Any help would be much appreciated!

It's a diesel yeah? What year?

Highlighted section is why you're getting that price, any regular mechanic will charge half that maybe even less

It's a good 6 hour job, also new actuator and manifold is around €700 iirc.

Yeah it's a diesel. The dreaded early 2006 1.9 TiD.

Padraic, €700 is exactly what the dealer quoted for parts but I've seen the manifold and other bits on ebay for half of that. Did you get the job done in a dealer? Mind me asking what you paid?

I've seen sites selling kits that bolt on to the actuator rod replacing the crappy plastic couplings. Has anyone fitted one of these and if so was it a successful fix for long?

Ha no I used to work in a Saab garage and have changed many of those manifolds and actuators... If you shop around you should be able to get it done for less than 300 labour..

Maybe try to source the parts on the trade sites for finding parts, leave out the Saab bit and replace with Opel, doesn't seem to be as expensive.
