If you can help with this, it's much appreciated.

I don't cycle like this but it is annoying me....

On the small front ring and on 7-10 on the back the chain sags and the RD nearly folds in on itself. How do I fix that? Compared to my ultegra something is wrong? :(

[Edit] Brand new chain fitted a few days ago.

Ultegra on Small FR and 10r looks fine?

While I am here... are there rear disc pads still good? :o

Thanks in advance for any help.

    .

    That'll be the problem........

You need to take a few links out of that chain - it's far too long. If you dont have the means (=tool) then its a job for the local bike shop

Yes shorten the chain. It should be pretty obvious.
The tool is under a fiver.

tbh the reason I fitted the new chain was because of the problem? I got one of those "chain wear tools" and it was well streatched. The new chain is an exact replacement of the old as far as I know. I didn't measure them side by side though.

I have the tools to remove a few links!

My concern is that I fell off my bike months ago and had to take the RD off to bate the sh1te out of the attaching part, to get it straight again, so did I put it back on wrong?

Would the original chain be the same? Would it be sold with a chain that was too long?

The bike could have been specced with that same chain but may well have had it shortened when built up. Even if you assume that all variations of the bike sold have the same gearing, you have to factor in that different sizes may have different chainstay lengths, and this may in turn impact the required chain length, albeit slightly. It would be quite rare that a chain out of the box would fit right unless you had a very wide gear range and a large frame, IMHO.

Yep - chain is too long. RD can't take up the slack. A new chain will be long enough to cover all applications so having to remove a few links to suit your specific application is not unusual.

Break chain, by pass rd and run it around largest rear cog and big ring: then overlap by two links.

    That is correct length.

Cut run through rd and join
