Back-stabbing among/within Cycling Clubs

Okay now it's not often something would tick me off when Cycling, however, perhaps someone can shed some light please:

~ Up in Galway over the week-end for Croí and I was privy to slagging and b**ching about club-mates (not being up to par) and other clubs within same county being insulted also, just for being ANother club.

Club-'mates' were being insulted in my ears; but had their hands shook then without them knowing what was said about them previous to me.

Is this is norm within clubs? Are people that cut-throat & back-stabbing?!

It seriously ticked me off and put a real dampner on my w/end having to listen and see this. I never went to Galway for any negativity, but this is what happened.

If this is going on about club-'mates' , I can only imagine what was said about me then when this back-stabbing was so evident.

The sportive in question was tough enough for me personally on numerous levels, but this was something I didn't want to be involved in.

Are club-'mates' normally like this with each other? It just ticked me off and just left a bad taste in my mouth over the sportive I was attending. Felt I'd have been better not meeting anyone from any club there.

I did meet one gent in particular though on my cycle who whose own Dad went into work one day & never made it home (passed away in Hospital after a massive heart-attack and who he himself had a minor one some years back). It was that character that made my w/end being honest. Nothing negative; nothing insulting; just pure honest and genuine.

    Thanks,
    kerry4sam

Sometimes I am polite to someone in my club and then I think about what I would like to do to them behind their back.

Is that what we're talking about?

Do you ever entertain these thoughts?

OP I think you've been watching too much Game of Thrones or House of Cards.

I don't know who said what about some fella out west, but one club slagging another is pretty much standard in any club/team and is normally taken in good spirit.

Again, no one else here was present and we only have your version of events, seems like a bit of a pointless thread.

Oh and that Raam, never liked him, typical Northsider.

If my club mates didn't insult me or speak ill of me I'd fear for their general intelligence.

    Is this about sexy stuff?

Because my clubmates are all incurably ugly.

    But I love them really.

    The cnuts.
