Ordering from China

Hi, I've looked at a few posts about this but none seem to address my issue so I'm hoping someone can help,

Basically I've been waiting six weeks for a shipment from China. It apparently arrived in Ireland more than a week ago and I don't know what's happened to it. This is the information available from online tracking (read from bottom to top):

2014-06-08 09:04, Departure from outward office of exchange, IE
    2014-06-07 09:33, Dispatching, IE
    2014-06-07 08:34, Opening, IE
    2014-06-06 18:21, Collection, IE

I understand that "Departure from outward office of exchange" is usually the message you get when it leaves customs in China, but this is in Ireland after it already arrived here - does that mean they're sending it back?!

It was only a small order of cheap goods (cost me under €20) so I can't see why there should be any problem with it.

were they counterfeit items or did any item have a brand name on it that was not a branded product?

or were they items that need a licence to bring in or are on a banned list?

Also, what was deliver method - china post / fedex / tnt /ups

China Post. They are two cheap pairs of shoes, not branded. I can't imagine there could be any counterfeiting issue.

I wouldn't think there are in Ireland yet, the 'IE' just indicates that the destination country is Ireland.

Track it on the An Post site instead: no result = not in Ireland yet

Thank you, that would mean it has taken over a month to even get out of China though? Would that be normal?

If it was from a company like DealExtreme or AliExpress they are frequently waiting for stock to be manufactured, so yes, it can take quite some time for orders to be dispatched, and an equally long time for them to be delivered

Thanks, no, it was from a crowd called Shanghaipop ... they have 31305 transactions on Ebay with 99.1% positive feedback and say they posted the package on May 3!

Hmm, but your tracking says it didn't leave China Post (I'm assuming that's where you are checking) until 8th June....

Ordered loads of stuff from China, only one problem. Ordered some porcelain figurines which hadn't been packed weel enough and were broken when I got them

Yes, that's why I was asking would it normally take so long just to get out of China :(

I've ordered many things from China, and some vendors can be slow to ship. Some areas can also add quite some time onto the shipping as it takes over a week to actually leave China.

The fact it is is showing as only having left China on the 8th, I would expect it to be another two weeks if coming by Chinas Post Air.

I'd say, usually more than 10 days after "Departure from outward office of exchange" you can expect tracking no. to be recognized by an post (so arrived here). Take your time. ;)

19 days? Not bad at all. :)

It was actually eight weeks from the day they say they shipped it!

I meant 19 days since marked as departed from outward office thing. :p

4 weeks from marked as shipped is not bad either.

Departing from (blah blah blah) means that parcel's been put on hold and waiting for space available in a flight. If there's no cargo space available, it'll wait. And wait. And wait...
