Looking for an Audi a3 00-04

I'm looking for an Audi a3 with a budget of roughly €2,500. Any advice? Petrol preferred. I remember reading the "Ambition" was the sports version but most ads don't seem to label which version it is. Is the Ambition the one to go for out of the three (Ambition, Ambiente, Attraction)?

    Thanks for any help.

As long as you don't get the 1.6 it's a good car. Reliable, drives well and has a much better interior then similar cars of it's class.

The 1.6 engine sucks and it's thirsty so get a 1.8 if you want a petrol.

Would have to do the odd long run (about 140 miles) every few weeks. Would the 1.8 still be worth it? Also, to turbo or not to turbo? That is the question.

I've not driven the 1.8 so I couldn't tell you. The 1.6 should be a avoided though, too thirsty and slow.

Try a 1.8 or get the diesel if you do the mileage for it.

A3 1.8T is rare enough on these shores unless your talking S3, most are either 1.6 or 1.9 TDi. Same engines used in other VAG cars so carries the same good and bad points.
