Hi, i am looking to get my clubs re-gripped.

Can anyone suggest a good Pro Shop in Dublin that would do them.

Can you also suggest a good grip (Titleist AP2 irons).

    Thanks in advance.

Halpenny or McGuirks do it. Any Pro will be able to do it.

Golf pride multi compound is what I have on my irons. Greqt feel and grip in all weather. Found the tour velvet types could "burn" at times

Size is important too, if you have big hands get an extra layer or two of tape. Any good pro should advise you on this

I got all my irons regripped there a few weeks ago, got my hands measured first and they added 2 layers of tape before the new grips. Was just over €100 in total.

    +1

    This is critical.

Make sure it makes sense to the way you hit the ball too.

I had standard grips years ago. I then got fitted and was given midsize, as I have big hands. They felt great and were comfy. But I lost quite a bit of distance and developed a tendancy to go right instead of left. (I didn't connect this with the new grips initially.)
I went to the pro in Leopardstown for a lesson and he said the grips were too big and I couldn't release the club with them. He fitted thinner ones and "Wow", straight away I was back hitting it longer and no more blocks.

So my point is, if your bad shot is a hook, you may benefit from slightly thicker grips. If you slice, slightly thinner to help you release more. Make sure that whoever fits you gives you a size that makes sense in regards to your shots. If you hook and they recommend thinner (and vica versa), then don't proceed without perhaps trying one or two clubs first.

I got mine done in Pro Golf in Athlone as its closest to me. They spent a few minutes going through the different grips etc and then another few minutes measuring. Well pleased with them.

Pretty sure golf pride multicompound is the only way to go. Love their colour selections.

I typically buy a set of ebay for pennies, and then the local pro charges me a few quid for the work. Have done it a few times down the years, costs maybe €50 all in to get it done depending.

As above ask about taping. They will be able to check quickly enough if you need taping or not.

Whatever you do don't get Golf Pride MultiCompound grips, every Tom, Dick and Harry has them and TBH there're not that great, although hard wearing they are also hard on your hands.
Try Lamkin or Winn grips they both have fantastic ranges and plenty of choice and as an added bonus you won't be like every other punter with their GP MC grips:pac:;).

Thanks for all the great advice guys... interesting to hear the grip thickness affecting your shot... i knew it wasn't my fault when i hit a bad shot :-)

Cheers, thanks. I reckon a lot of pro's don't explain this to customers when getting clubs re-gripped.

I don't find them hard wearing at all, I have one on my driver and for the past couple of years had to replace it every season with the right hand wearing excessively. Don't find the grip particular good in the rain either.
I have the tour velvets in my irons and find them good over the past 18 months so might try that or a full cord grip in the driver next.
