Have you unlocked the Bootloader?? It's a pre-requisite.

Guide here: (you need to access the Motorola site for this.)

    Is it Kitkat??

Yeah it is kitkat... I will give it another go there so... :) Cheers!! :)

THe link is broken for these files :/

Step #1: Download the Fastboot and ADB Drivers Package to your computer (Filename: Fastboot and ADB files.zip).

    The question was....

did you unlock the Bootloader, it needs doing before you can root the Moto G

That was just a random site I turned up with Google search, TBH, there are probably better guides on XDA, here.

Can you say if you have or have not done this essential first step?? Otherwise rooting will not work.

If you were attempting to root previously, I expect you will have those??

However, I think there may be driver pack download here, in the thread:

    I have all files except "loki_flash "
Cant seem to find it anywhere... is it specific to the moto g, I have seen copies for other phones, are they the same?

    Step #2: Extract files from the downloaded zip to get following files: adb.exe – AdbWinApi.dll – AdbWinUsbApi.dll – api-versions.xml – loki_flash – fastboot.exe – source.properties

    cheers!

you never told us if you managed the unlock bootloader phase,

    Well?? Did ya.

How far are you getting, what is happening??

you need to give real info, not cussin!!

I wont be here for at least an hour, [England vs Uruguay]

but what Tom says there, that's what I did, but it was on JB, so I don't know, it worked for somebody_else on KK, should work for you.

Are you on 4.4.2, like Tom??

    I wouldn't do anyone else's phone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 236 ✭✭Shpongler

    Yeah I am on 4.4.2

When I run this command i get this.. check the attached pic

    Doesn't look right!!

don't like that DNS Server Not Authoritative For Zone error you have there ???

Is that the folder you have fastboot and adb installed in.....desktop\adt??

what do you get for fastboot devices command in the windows command window, you have USB debugging set??

you should be in bootloader mode too.

    check adb is working too:

After connecting to PC, in Administrator Command Prompt, run:

    adb devices

you should get back device connected info, if not, you are not in the correct folder

    if you get it, do:

    adb reboot bootloader

phone should reboot to bootloader menu

    Then:

    fastboot oem get_unlock_data

    gotta go, match on.

I've recently got the moto g 4g. The system doesn't move apps to the 32gb sd card i bought, I think it's because of the kitkat file access permissions. Can anybody provide steps to overcome this problem?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 491 ✭✭Some_Person

I also have the 4G, you should have no problem moving apps to the SD card in the app settings, I have a few on the SD card.

What class SD card is it and are you running kitkat 4.4.4?

Class 10 4.4.4. Does the card need to be formatted/partitioned in some way

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 491 ✭✭Some_Person

Yes try to format it under Storage settings.
