    Back in stock !

Cracking price for a 32 " TV £119 using code TDX-PRKW as new user !
User Parcel motel for 7 EUR delivery to nearest PM !

Won't that be too large for parcel motel and also possibly over the 10kg limit?

For the past few years, many 'standard' Freeview sets have had the requisite goodies on-board to deliver Saorview i.e. DVB-T + MPEG4 + MHEG5.

I know the advice you'll often see given on boards is 'if it's not Freeview HD, it won't do Saorview', but that's not a hard & fast rule by any means.

Seems like a great price and the lack of SaorShīte SaorView :pac: wouldn't bother me as I've Sky.

It might be a big oversized for ParcelMotel though wouldn't it?

I had a 32" LG delivered via PM from Amazon. They sent it to the depot in Sligo and I was charged €7. This was just before Christmas.

Not necessarily true, Freeview HD uses Dvb-T2, Saorview uses Dvb-T. It is possible it's an Mpeg4 Dvb-T tuner, just not T2 to support Freeview HD. Very few Tv's ship with Mpeg2 tuners these days

They say you need bigger than 32 inch to see a difference between 720p and 1080p

My brother in law got a 39 inch through Parcel Motel last week

In fairness, the football broadcast quality on RTE1 SD carried by Sky last nigh was truly horrendous. I switched over to Saorview for it in HD.

    That's true, it was atrocious.

I'm just on about the differences in programming, channels available etc, obviously one is free and the other can cost upwards of €100!

In fairness it is the bones of 150 euro. You would be asking a lot to be expecting Full HD.

Does it really matter if the tv is 32". If you cannot see 1080p on 32" then surely the tv should be the same quality on screen...no?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,661 ✭✭✭Crimsonforce

you cannot notice the difference technically between 720p and 1080i on the 32" screen. for 150 euros the TV is a steel. if you want to turn it into a "smart tv" buy a chromecast for 40 euros..

Would this TV do the job for a PS4 or should I get a Full HD?

It would do the job, a full hd would be better though.

I'd be more worried about the input lag than whether it was full hd or not.

There are more things to weigh up than resolution.

The HD picture quality for this World Cup on RTE,BBC and ITV is really poor.
The daytime matches are washed out .

Could be the fact that I bought a new TV recently but the picture quality on RTE HD for the world cup has been excellent so far imo.

+1 RTE HD has had a sharper picture and sound than BBC IMO.

;could be the 2 days of torrential rain they had )

Is this the same model as was on sale in DID for around 230.
Blaupunkt is no longer a manufacturer just a shelved brand name now revived as a badge for Malaysian etc imports. Once used to be the top end of car stereos.

yes, its working fine for saorview- has mheg5 so i am thinking the mpeg4 comes along with it too./

I think most new tvs have the mpeg4,mheg5 tuner now, no? unless they are dirt cheap and only meant for uk freeview.

Bit dozy this morning, didn't see that Saorview works on it, sorry!
What's picture and sound quality like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,165 ✭✭✭fish fingers

Got one for parents, picture is grand, sound isn't great. The tvs are so thin now there's no room for speakers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 959 ✭✭✭maringo

Thanks Tarmor, ordered one for the sister in the UK. At that price a steal and a good brand too. A great spot. :o I'll report back once they set it up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 737 ✭✭✭Chimichangas

I am happy enough with it picture and sound is ok for me, think its real user friendly too, fairly easy to use remote/interface, has usb recording too, yet to be tried though..
