Mixing two different kinds of oil

Hey guys, I've 10w40 in my engine (after my mechanic's recommendation) and I'm low on it now.

I have half a litre of 0w30 in the boot. Will pouring that in (BMW recommended type) cause any issues?

Stupid, stupid question, but I really need to know.

What engine is in it? i'm guessing an M43, these originally ran on 10w40 semi synth and then moved to fully synth in newer models.

    Adding 1/2 a litre of 0w30 shouldn't make too much odd's. Is the 0w30 LL01 or LL03 oil?

    M54.

Will get rid of that crap from my engine, but need to go another 150 miles.

It's Castrol Edge 0w30 Fully Synthetic.

My engine's currently running on Castrol Magnatec 10w40 semi-synthetic

Recommended by my mechanic since it's a high mileage one (177k mls)

It won't magically cause the engine to explode or fail.

All that'll happen is that the characteristics of the resulting mix will be somewhere between the stated performance of both oils.

Put it into it. Oil is cheaper than bearings.

Are you near any sort if filling station. Most will have oil for sale there....I wouldn't go mixing oils myself, to risky. While it won't do short term damage, it may do long term damage.

Poured half a litre of 0w30 in, will drive 60 miles on that and then replace the oil
