Who loves takeoffs and landings?

    But especially takeoffs.

    Takeoffs -
As a passenger: The revving of the engines even before getting to the runway is cool to me. Then you have a 'first wave' once you're actually going for the takeoff, then that 'second wave' which really gets you going - find it a really cool and powerful sound. Then comes the mix of dread/excitement as you are speed down the runway, starting with a great thud and you wonder how many cars you can pass on the motorway before you get off this semi-dangerous ride  Then the incredible sensation of finally lifting off..must admit my excitement levels fall quite rapidly at this point, but it's still alright I suppose :p
Viewing from the ground: Same thing with the power sounds and strength coming from the engines really; love watching them boost this often huge bit of kit and firing it up the runway.

    Landings -
As a passenger: the bumps in the air mainly no match for your aircraft and the slight strength sensation which goes with that, the jolt as you hit the ground, the similar combination to takeoff of dread/excitement as you hurtle down the runway till you eventually get slower and slower in quick succession.
Viewing from the ground: It's just great to watch, and the bigger the aircraft the better. Looks really sophisticated if you can get a head on view.

Sorry if I sound really amateurish and odd in this post - I am.

I love the way they rev up the engines with the breaks on, then release them and the sudden surge forwards.

I especially love when the average between the two is 1 per flight.

I love when they are taking off East, I match them with my car until I run out of road :)

I like go-arounds......only experienced about 4/5 but they are kind of fun.

Did not enjoy the one aborted take-off I experienced!

OP here- I've experienced not even one!

What was the aborted take off about?

At Stansted a few years ago and the pilot told us after that a vehicle had entered the runway.

I'd guess that a car with a 0-60 time under 8 seconds 'feels' as fast as a commercial jetliner at take off .Id say under 7 feels faster .Just based on my own experiences in 737s I'd guess.

Take off is my favourite, the revving of the engines while brakes are on and then the release, sudden surge is the best.
Also love go arounds, my favourite was when the main wheel touched and then the sudden surge and up again, bleeding deadly

Love all aspects of a flight but especially take off. It's especially great on a 752,like a little rocket.

As for viewing, I never tire of watching the EK 773ER departure when it's pissing down, watching the twin GE90s clear the runway of water is great to watch.

Imagine the surge off an aircraft carrier

Mine is 7 seconds flat and stays dead side by side with most to quite a speed that I shall not mention.
    It's a great addictive feeling :)

That's 0-120 knots in 2.5 seconds. As close as you can get to being fired out of a cannon.

    This is also possible

I think the landings.......at night......in a pitching sea.........while being scrutinised, scored and assessed by your peers......must be fairly terrifying awe inspiring.

They do say carrier landings are just controlled crashes........

You want to try take-offs from London City, brakes on, engines spool up, release..... its like a catapult.
