    Hi Guys

I am an HGV driver looking for help and advice on how i can get work and starting up as an owner driver. I have passed my CPC management and now looking for companies that use sub contractors (owner drivers) for their work in Ireland. I am still to purchase a truck depending on type of work and advise you guys can give me.

    Containers, Fridges or Tippers....any work....???

Jaysus stay away from the owner operator route if ya can help it at all.

Serious overheads and lads running from Dublin-Kerry for just enough to cover the fuel so they can get good rates during the day.

Your running costs before fuel would be over €3000 a month before you turn a wheel. Repairs tax and fuel are all on top of that.

The good rates days are gone , long gone.

If your driving for someone stay there.

That said just look on the road and you'll see hackers pulling other company's trailers up and down the road

Note the company's , give them a call and see how you get on.

    Bet it won't be far.

You sound like you've little or no experience in the industry. You'd honestly be better off getting some.
