Hey, this is such a premature question, but I'm hoping to go to NUIG this September doing Arts and my mam has just booked a holiday for a week in February. What's the story with missing lectures for a couple days?

If you're gonna miss them and you know this far in advance, make sure to inform your lecturers in advance as well and explain your situation. If they're decent they might assign readings to you so you can keep up to date. However, there is no obligation on them to do this.

Shouldn't be any issue. Don't need to think about it for months though. In early January once back for 2nd semester inform your tutors/lecturers and ensure if you've essays/assignments etc due that week that you can get them done in time and that you get the readings..
