Painful gums & no dentist until Monday. Anything that might help in the meantime?

My gums are very sore, red, swollen. I've had it before but this is way worse than it's ever been. Particularly bad at the front two bottom teeth, but it's all around the gums.

It's been going on for two over days now, I really should have gone yesterday but I'm adverse to dentists and broke. It's just getting worse and I'm really worried so I will definitely go on Monday.

My question is, is there anything I can do that might help in the meantime? I've used Cortisol mouthwash and sea salt in warm water, neither really helped much. Thanks.

Hi Bootsy..add a few drops of clove oil to some water and wash your mouth with this..repeat as required..I promise this will help the pain and swelling.

If you cant get clove oil, just put some cloves themselves against your gums and press / bite into them.
    I found it very helpful!

Try an out of hours dentist, sooner you get on top of this the better

Thanks everyone. I couldn't get clove oil but made a tea with cloves (and lemon, honey, and ginger) and it helped, as well as many saline mouthwashes etc.

After four days of pain, finally got to a dentist this evening and got sorted, the first stage at least but it could have been worse.

    Thanks again!
