    Hey Guys,

I Just wanted your opinion on something I was thinking about, seeing as there is a few irish guys now on the UFC roster. What do you think the chances are of us having a title fighter or a champion in the near future? I know conor will probably get a shot other than conor who do guys think that might be the dark horse of the irish guys ?

    Thanks Guys

Cant wait for UFC Dublin :)

    How do you know that?!

It takes more than trash talk to get a title shot.
Even Sonnen had to beat okami and marquardt who were both top 10 guys at the time, before he got an undeserved title shot.

In what world was the first shot undeserved?

Okami and Marquardt were both going to get the shot if the beat him.

I think Cawhaaaaaallll has a good chance as he is very well rounded and quite big for his division.

Gunni, although not Irish is a champ in the making but he is adopted Irish and even he would be quick to say that he has learned a lot from training in Dublin with SBGi.

Ais Daly is a good shout if she keeps progressing and they add more weight classes to the women's division.

Conor could be a champ but he is in a very talented division and nobody has yet cracked Aldo or looked even close to getting the better of him. I personally think he is the best p4p fighter at the moment.

I think in the future we could have a champ as SBGi is producing excellent fighters and the bigger and more recognised they get, they will add to their current outstanding coaches and it will become a factory for top fighters.

The only time Sonnen got an undeserved title shot was in LHW against Jones, every other shot in MW was deserved IMO.

The main reason I say Ais Daly is because, if i'm not mistaken, the TUF she's trying out for is for Women's Strawweight and the twist is that the winner of the tournament becomes the inaugural Women's Strawweight Champion.

I'm not sure if she made it into the house though. I know she posts here fairly irregularly.

    Stuffins is spot on.
With the new 115 division. Ais Daly is probably closer, time wise, to UFC gold than McGregor.

The UFC brought over 11 Invicra straweights - but 3 are entering TUF. So that leaves 8 spots to be filled. 36 females tried out for those spots and reports suggested Ais was a stand out.

If she makes it in. Then if she goes 3/3 over 8 weeks, she's fight for the title before Christmas.

I've seen her fight a few times and not been overly impressed tbh.

Am I being harsh or has she been fighting outside of her normal weight or something?

Personally I think we're way off having a UFC champion, Conor is doing the right things commercially to become a challenger, if he can win 2-3 more fights he'll get a shot in my opinion so that makes him a potential challenger, The difference in level between 2nd UFC Fight and the top is massive though

To me it will be in 5-10 years when we have lads who started this sport as children, just like in Boxing when we will have lads who can and will go all the way or at least 2 years ago it looked that way before the teens where pretty much stopped competing and it's pretty dead now

As it stands getting into the UFC is a massive achievement and that's the level we're at right now, Thats not to say the people in there should not have ambitions to go all the way, Of course they should

With all that said, I hope I'm wrong and we get a UFC champ sooner rather than later.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.
