House insurance

    Quick question, my son spilled coke on my macbook last night it looks like it is gone, i have accidental damage with my house insurance will this be covered.

    Unlikely unless you've noted it as a valuable item on your policy. Damage to a single item is usually limited to a specific amount which would usually not cover something like a Macbook. Download the policy document from your insurance company's website and read it.

    Damage caused by liquids may also be limited to leaks from fixed pipes and taps and therefore implicitly exclude damage caused by accidental spillage, that's my reading of the current Allianz policy document.

    Even if you could your excess would be about €300 and then your premium would go up next year and for a few years after that.

    I will wait and see if it can be repaired, it cost €1500 so it might be worth a punt.

    I did the same about a month ago.

    Was covered after being sent for assessment and confirmed as unrepairable
