    Hi

I took the myers briggs test recently and discovered I'm an INTJ. How serious should I take this when consdering career options?

    Thanks

    eh.... not very.

Try taking it another day, a different mood, and see if you keep coming up with the same results.

It has a low 'test re-test' reliability meaning you could take it a week later and get a different result. It's based on dichotomous categories, either/or but individuals can be a mixture

    They cheated the test, essentially.

It's as reliable as your horoscope.

I find it to be a great frame of reference myself.
Many times I have "guessed" friends type and I am ussually close.
I also found it really interesting that i went forman INFJ to an INTP because i started reading and studying philosophy more and creatign frameworks for software development. In the period of time doing that I have changed my personality. Which was pretty cool to observe.
It's obviously a very general test. But i still find it useful in helping people firstly find an interest in their own behaviour and consider how they think about thing. Self awareness on any level is important in my view.
Also some thing in the results will most likely never change. i consistently get over 90% introvert and over 75% intuitive.
So even with loads more philosophy and logical thiking, I mayalways be far into the introvert scale(more so with philosophy I guess) and more so intuitive.
Thats something i appreciate knowing about myself. it allows me to trust my intuition, because in the past I did not and i have suffered a great deal as a result.
That suffering thought me lessons. But above all to know my modes of thinking and use it to my advantage.

With that said, I wouldn't use it to decide a career.
Maybe yu get intorvert and it says you should work in less social environments... but then again, maybe it would be good to push those limits and be more social... So do what you love.
