Hi, we have moved to a new house which has a walled vegetable plot. We now have it undercontrol and are wondering what easy veg we could plot for this time of year. Husband wants to plant potatoes, is it too late? All/Any ideas would be very welcome.

Think its too late for potatoes but still time for planting lots of veggies like french bean, peas, courgettes, cabbages, salad leaves, radishes etc All are pretty easy to grow as long as you keep an eye on the slugs on everything and caterpillars on the cabbages.Good time to sow winter kale now. Enjoy!

Actually while it's not often done there is still time for spuds. Earlies only take approx 12 weeks so you can get a crop for mid-september. Some people sow for Christmas spuds, so it's definitely doable. Problem is blight. You will have to deal with that through the entirety of the plants' life.

I put down my last of 5 ridges of spuds at the end of June early July. Normally gave no spuds left in April or May

You still have time for carrots and beetroot. French beans can still go in.

there may be some vegetables left in trays in the garden center which may give you a head start now. probably very cheap too. water well before planting out
